Sacred Icons of Devotion

Inspiration to enhance love, purpose, and inner power

This Kalighat Folk Icons collection of six hand-painted works comes from anonymous Bengali artists of the mid-19th century (c. 1850–1900), created near the Kalighat Temple in Kolkata as watercolor and tempera on paper. With bold black outlines, flat jewel-toned washes, and spare backgrounds, each piece depicting Radha and Krishna’s pastoral grace, Shiva’s tiger taming power, and other beloved Bhakti themes captures intimate devotion and mythic drama in Bengal’s popular style. Originally sold as temple souvenirs to pilgrims, these folk-art paintings democratized sacred imagery, and today they bring a warm, soulful presence to any space. Whether arranged above a puja shelf, flanking a reading nook, or brightening a hallway gallery, this bundle invites everyday encounters with love, power, and spiritual grace
